The research was carried out by the recruiting company Values Value and the platform with all vacancies in the game development InGame Job.
In the second quarter of 2022, Ukrainian companies published 2,514 vacancies (office cooperation format only). For comparison, 4,061 vacancies were published in the first quarter of 2022.
Below is a graph showing the distribution of vacancies by month for the first six months of 2022.
The Most Needed Specialists
We compared these charts with other periods and did not notice any notable differences. Now Unity developers, 2D artists, and game designers are still in demand in Ukraine.
Geography of Hiring
The geography of the search for specialists has changed dramatically compared to the same period in 2021. The war forced companies and employees to relocate away from the front line — from the East to the West of Ukraine. If in 2021, in the second quarter, Lviv studios had 198 open vacancies, today it is already 320. In Kharkiv, on the contrary, companies began to hire less — in the second quarter of 2021, 442 vacancies were opened, and now only 219. The number of open vacancies has decreased for Kyiv companies as well.
The Most Hiring Companies in Ukraine
Companies that continue to create jobs during the war deserve a special mention.
In this graph you can see the number of vacancies published by each company in the second quarter of 2022.
By the way, there are InGame Job partners in this rating, whose vacancies you can see on our website.
Program Ace is searching for developers and offers a remote format of cooperation. And Kevuru Games is looking for artists, producers, and developers remotely and in the Kyiv office.
Conclusions
Ukrainian companies continue to hire fewer specialists. There are much fewer vacancies. However, compared to March 2022, the situation is now better.
In Kyiv and Kharkiv, vacancies with an office format of cooperation have significantly decreased. Lviv is strengthening its position as a new important city for the Ukrainian gaming industry.
