Axlebolt started out as a small team of passionate developers and skyrocketed into a global gaming industry powerhouse. Our relentless focus on creativity, innovation, and employee development allows us to push the boundaries of game design while fostering a unique culture that keeps us centered around creating an outstanding product.
Our Story
Our story begins in the summer of 2013, when Axlebolt’s founders decided to pursue their passion for game development. Their first project was called Zombie Mincer, and it was soon followed by the release of Standoff Multiplayer on July 26, 2015. This was the launch that set the stage for Axlebolt’s growth on the global gaming scene.
Today, the Axlebolt team has grown to include over 250 remote and in-person employees located in countries all around the world, including Brazil, the United States, Slovenia, Czechia, and our offices in Limassol, Cyprus and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Flagship Offering and Platforms
Axlebolt’s flagship game Standoff 2 is a first-person shooter with over 200 million players and 300 million downloads worldwide. The game rewards tactics and skill, and features thrilling gameplay modes and stunning graphics.
Standoff 2 has made its mark on key platforms including iOS, Android, and HarmonyOS, highlighting global market demand that only continues to rise.
Onboarding Program
Designed to offer a purposeful start, our onboarding program is tailored to each team member, whether they are joining us remotely or in-office. Remote employees begin with an in-person immersion to experience our culture firsthand. Over their first three months, every new hire follows a structured plan guided by their manager, HR, and a mentor, equipping them to embrace challenges and contribute to our vision.
Tailored Professional Development Program
As Axlebolt continues to grow, so does our commitment to employee development. In 2024, we introduced a 360 review program that includes dedicated 1-to-1 sessions between each employee and their leader to create personalized development plans. These plans focus on enhancing hard, soft, and managerial skills with a clear vision for the next three to six months.
Aligned with our agile approach to development, we then hold regular check-ins to track progress, address areas for growth, and fine-tune the individual plans. We encourage professional advancement through courses, conferences, seeking out new challenges, and receiving ongoing feedback from leadership, ensuring every team member has the support to excel.
Perks and Benefits
One of the standout benefits Axlebolt provides is the opportunity for company-sponsored training in both hard and soft skills. Employees also enjoy comprehensive medical insurance, access to professional literature, and relocation support. Our flexible scheduling allows each team member, whether remote or in-office, to find their ideal work rhythm within a supportive, collaborative environment. This approach empowers employees to focus fully on tackling complex tasks and bringing their creativity to life.
Working at Axlebolt
Expect projects that challenge and inspire. Our employees value being part of something major, with ample space for new ideas and the creative freedom to explore these ideas fully.
“There are no strict rules on schedule or location. You can work however and wherever you want, as long as you are getting things done and meeting your obligations. This flexibility makes the job enjoyable and reduces stress.”
“We are encouraged to speak openly and share our opinions freely.”
We’re committed to equal opportunities and supporting a culture of open, honest communication. At Axlebolt, everyone feels free to share their ideas and provide feedback openly.
“There’s no strict chain of command here. We all work together toward the same goal, and it really feels great. I can approach anyone to have a conversation, and everyone gets an opportunity to be heard.”
Room for Improvement
As the company grows, employees feel the need to reconnect and stay in touch.
“There are so many of us now. It would be helpful if we had regular updates on who is doing what across different departments.”
“I wish we could see each other more often. It’s great that we have team trips, but working remotely can sometimes feel isolating.”
Given our rapid growth and widespread team, we recognize the importance of staying connected and creating meaningful opportunities for team members to interact and collaborate. We’re also focused on making our processes clear and transparent, so everyone stays aligned and engaged as we move forward together.
